I was born and raised in New York City and have been taking photographs since high school. So, yes, 24 years now and my passion only grows stronger. I moved to Maryland in 1997 and I love it here. 

I started with a Nikon F series SLR manual film camera (one of many) and I'm proud to say that I’ve come a long way. Over the years, I have evolved to the Nikon D series digital SLRS and become a devotee of Nikon equipment. Although pricey, the reliability and image quality standards are unmatched. I don't take any chances at weddings or other photo shoots, so I own four D4 bodies along with ten plus professional Nikkor lenses; in case of a mechanical or electrical malfunction, I'm covered. I have four assistants and two other professional photographers who work for me. 

When I first started out in Maryland, I worked with master wedding photographer Web Wright for 3 years. Annapolis-based, I met Web in 2001, who took me under his wing and showed me how to turn a picture into an award winning portrait. Eighteen years later we are great friends and, because of him, I was able to go out on my own in 2006 and start R.D. Photography.  I've taken over 500,000 photographs in 5 countries and have a running archive of every photograph. I have photographed over 250 weddings 25 states. My specialties are photo-journalistic wedding photography as well as corporate events and modeling. I joined the Maryland Professional Photographers Association in 2004 and earned the title Professional Photographer in 2006. I compete in bi-monthly print competitions which include several categories and are judged by 3 guest Master Photographers from around the country. I've earned over 25 merited prints and strive to win best in show. The competition is fierce, as I compete against other Professional Photographers from Md, Dc, Va. My goal in the next year is to earn the title of Master Photographer. 

When I’m not behind the camera lens capturing timeless memories, you can find me with my wonderful wife and daughter out on the Chesapeake Bay or at and O's game.
